DC Tony White can have a similar emergence at FSU, just like former DC Mark Stoops

We need the killer mentality on FSU's defense for the 2025 season.

STOPPING THE RUN

Defensive coordinator Tony White has emphasized all offseason that he plans to be physical on defense. The unit has aggressive players on the roster that could be viable pieces to stop the run, such as Elijah Herring, Darrell Jackson Jr., and James Williams.

Under the guidance of Coach White, the Nebraska Cornhuskers ranked as the 14th-best run defense (105.8 yards per game). That is impressive given that they had to play offenses such as Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, and USC.

The improved linebacker play is why I am so excited about Florida State being able to stop the run. I believe that Elijah Herring is an exceptional defender who is instinctual to the football and can sniff out what offenses will be running pre-snap.

I am not saying that the Seminoles will rank as the number one run defense in college football in Year 1 under Coach White, but I do think that Florida State will have success against its inferior opponents.
