It was an impactful showing for former head football coach Jimbo Fisher, as he made an appearance in Tallahassee for the ACC Network's show previewing the Seminoles' matchup against Miami.
This was a situation where I thought the fan base would have booed him out of the state, but surprisingly enough, the event that transpired left Coach Fisher in tears where the Seminole faithful were doing the war chant and screaming his name.
Make no mistake about it, the exit for JImbo Fisher when he left Tallahassee for Texas A&M was rough. However, as they always say, "It is never late to make things right".
Florida State lost to North Carolina State by a score of 21-11 on Friday night in Carter-Finley Stadium. As head football coach Mike Norvell's squad underperformed in Raleigh with the two special teams miscues, it became evidently clear that Coach Norvell could be getting his walking papers sooner than later.
With all the candidates starting to navigate into other positions (James Franklin to Virginia Tech, Lane Kiffin to LSU, and Jon Sumrall to Auburn), this could be a spot where we see Florida State go with a coach who knows the landscape of this football program.
Coach Fisher finished with an 83-23 overall record at Florida State, and won the ACC Championship from 2012 to 2014. With that said, it is important to consider if the college football landscape has passed him up. However, if hired, the expectation would be that he recruit at an elite level, plus the Seminoles probably wouldn't have to pay him much.
It is also important to note that the Seminoles won double-digit games in six of the eight years, so I realize that it could be embarrassing to bring back the "old ex", but it might be our only hope to get Florida State back to relevance before a purgatory of pain starts to transpire.
