Mike Norvell knew he had a pivotal game on Saturday, hosting the Pittsburgh Panthers with the fan base on pins and needles after back-to-back losses.
FSU choked away a 21-14 lead after a terrible start by the FSU defense, and the FSU offense went missing in the second half. FSU coaches got outcoached badly, and the Pitt team played with much more of the edge Mike Norvell wanted to see from his team.
FSU fans wanted Mike Norvell gone after the loss against Miami last week, and now, former FSU players want him gone. Former five-star receiver Ermon Lane posted this on his social media profile shortly after the game ended:

Lane played for Jimbo Fisher while at FSU, so it’s not surprising he posted this. Jimbo Fisher has been hanging around Tallahassee quite a bit, working for the ACC network, and got emotional when talking about his time at FSU last week.
That segment on the ACC show seemed to win over a lot of FSU fans and made them forget how he left FSU during the 2017 season. It seemed to make many folks forget that Jimbo hadn’t won the ACC since 2014 and lost at least three games every year from 2015-2017, despite hauling in top 10 recruiting classes year after year.
His time at Texas A&M didn’t go like many thought it would, and he failed to win anything there. It’s not clear what FSU will do with Mike Norvell because he has a huge buyout remaining after his contract extension before the 2024 season. Jimbo Fisher has made it clear he wants to coach again and wants to go somewhere he can compete for national titles. FSU is one of those places, and Fisher won one with FSU in 2013. Re-treads rarely work in any fashion, and I don’t think Jimbo could recapture that magic again, but we’ll see if and when FSU decides to make a move if his name gets thrown in the mix.
