Florida State had a home-and-home series scheduled with Alabama for the 2025 and 2026 seasons. This generated plenty of excitement amongst the fan base, even though the program isn't where it wants to be consistency-wise.
The Seminoles got the best of the Crimson Tide this past year, as they defeated them by a score of 31-17 in Doak Campbell Stadium. After the contest, there were several individuals who thought Florida State had a serious shot to compete for a national championship.
The newly renovated Doak Campbell Stadium was rocking at 3:30 PM EST, and the fan base started to believe in the squad. Everything quarterback Thomas Castellanos said in the offseason came true.
Unfortunately, the Seminoles crumbled down the stretch, where they lost seven of their last nine games. It was another losing season in Tallahassee after their embarrassing loss to Florida to close out the year. Some fans were even thinking earlier in the year, after the loss to Stanford, that this would be Norvell's last season at Florida State.
Florida State and Georgia have cancelled their home-and-home series
However, the administration decided to keep Norvell for the 2026 season, and the pressure is sky high this upcoming year. It didn't seem to get much better, as the Seminoles were scheduled to play the Georgia Bulldogs for a home-and-home series in 2027 and 2028, but it was reported on Thursday that the series has been cancelled and they are working on scheduling a neutral-site matchup.

This is disappointing to see because the neutral-site matchup could be in Atlanta, Georgia, in the backyard of the Bulldogs. Either way, this is a terrible idea because it takes away revenue for the administration, as they are no longer playing inside Doak Campbell Stadium.
This makes the home slate worse for the fans and could cause individuals to not buy season tickets. The landscape of college football has changed, and it seems to always be about TV money and putting the best product on the field. However, experiencing a contest in Doak Campbell Stadium is unlike any other.
With a program like Florida State that wants to get as much money as it can, this is the worst-case scenario for them and any businesses around town that generate money from the traffic of people going to games.
While most fans want to have exciting games, I don't mind them scheduling a cupcake opponent in Doak Campbell Stadium. However, the administration should not schedule a neutral site with Georgia just to cater to their wants.
