Florida State baseball (13-2) has won nine straight games since its disappointing weekend in Texas, where it lost against Auburn and Nebraska. The starting pitching has been great on the weekends, but the midweek pitching has been a culmination of different guys, some effective, and others not.
However, the story over the last few games has been the FSU offense, which scored over 30 runs in a three-game series against Northern Kentucky. The Noles are batting .310, with 18 home runs and a .431 on-base percentage.
FSU was hitting around .270 overall a few games ago and striking out over 25 percent of its at-bats. Northern Kentucky isn’t some powerhouse, so don’t expect those types of numbers to continue. However, there is a question of whether FSU has been beating up on bad competition or if they have made legitimate improvements.

A win over the Florida Gators would make FSU fans feel a lot better going into the weekend series against Wake Forest
FSU will travel to Gainesvilles to face the rival Florida Gators (14-3) on Tuesday evening. Florida has talent, though it lost its weekend series against High Point. They lost the first two games and would have gotten swept if High Point hadn’t blown a lead late in the third game. They won two games against the Miami Hurricanes the weekend before last.
The Noles lost two of three against the Florida Gators last season, as the Gators ended their 16-game winning streak to open the season.
It'll be a good barometer to see where the Noles are at this stage. They've had some guys they were depending on to come alive at the plate, and that's started to happen.
Tuesday's game will start at 6:30 p.m. It's an important game for the FSU pitchers, with FSU traveling this weekend to start ACC play against Wake Forest. Here's to hoping they don't have to dig too deep into the bullpen and the FSU bats show up!
