Red Zone Struggles

The difference in the FSU offense once they moved inside the opponent's 40-yard line was astounding. The FSU passing attack from its own 1-yard line to the opponent’s 40-yard line had a 64.1 completion percentage and three interceptions on 239 passing attempts.

The FSU passing attack from the opponent's 39-yard line to the opponent's 1-yard line had a 47 percent completion percentage and six interceptions on 100 passing attempts.

The FSU rushing attack from its own 1-yard line to the opponent’s 40-yard line averaged 5.69 yards per rush. The FSU rushing attack from the opponent’s 39-yard line to the opponent’s 1-yard line averaged 4.5 yards per carry, and that number decreased to 3.25 yards per carry inside the 20-yard line.

That essentially meant opposing defenses were fine loading up to stop the run because they didn’t think Thomas Castellanos could consistently beat them through he air, and they were right.
