Passing Game Struggles

FSU quarterback Thomas Castellanos only completed 58 percent of his pass attempts in 2025. His completion percentage was affected by inaccurate throws, inability to anticipate throws, and receivers dropping passes.

FSU attempted shots down the field a few times a game, which usually have a lower completion percentage.

FSU had 48 percent of its passing production on first down, but only completed 61 percent of those passes. However, 68 percent of those completions went for 15+ yards.

The problem was when FSU failed to complete a pass on first down. They only completed 52 percent of their second-down passes, although FSU managed to convert third and 7+ via the pass 45 percent of the time.

That’s not a terrible percentage for an offense with an inaccurate passer. As we mentioned, FSU could usually move the ball until the field got condensed, and that's where the issues were.
