FSU VS ALABAMA SEASON OPENER

Florida State football finished with a 2-10 record last season. This made the fan base frustrated since there was optimism that head football coach Mike Norvell had things rolling in Tallahassee after he finished with a 13-1 record in 2023.

The Seminole faithful are nervous now that they start their season opener in the friendly confines of the renovated Doak Campbell Stadium versus Alabama, which finished 9-4 in head football coach Kalen DeBoer's first year in Tuscaloosa.

That isn't the standard that former legendary figure Nick Saban has set for the Crimson Tide. This even had newly acquired Thomas Castellanos discussing his season-opening opponent.

This was something that I would not have wanted to add fuel to the fire in late June for the Crimson Tide. However, Castellanos has a point... This isn't a team that is led by Nick Saban anymore. While Alabama has a talented roster, it shouldn't strike fear in anyone that they could potentially trot out quarterback Ty Simpson, even though they have talented weapons.

The former UCF and Boston College quarterback transfer is someone very confident in himself. If he can play his type of football, then Castellanos can be a scary sight in Tallahassee under offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn.

Many Alabama players had their thoughts on Castellanos's quotation with On3's Pete Nakos, but it's not just them who felt the need to comment on what he had to say:

I get the hesitancy because Florida State finished with a 2-10 record last year, and they shouldn't be talking after what transpired last year. However, I would rather them being confident in themselves.

Reporter Ari Wasserman talks about stuffing teams in a locker, but the Crimson Tide struggled against lackluster teams such as Vanderbilt, Oklahoma, and Michigan last year. There is more pressure on Mike Norvell and the Seminoles to succeed in the opener, but Florida State should have a chip on its shoulder to have a better product on the field.
