Florida State football had another disappointing season in 2025, where they finished with a 5-7 record. The Seminoles' fan base was expecting more after the program had a 2-10 campaign in 2024, but it looks like individuals have to endure another offseason where they search for answers.

The Seminoles decided to retain head football coach Mike Norvell for the 2026 season. This was a questionable decision by some because Florida State has had four losing seasons in six years under his leadership.

One of the biggest complaints has been the quarterback position. Other than former signal-caller Jordan Travis, the Seminoles have struggled to find success over the past couple of seasons. The transfer portal has been a mess over the past couple of years with the likes of McKenzie Milton, DJ Uiagalelei, and Thomas Castellanos.

However, with Castellanos's eligibility up in the air for the 2026 season, the program seems to be likely to turn to other options, whether it be turning to redshirt freshman Kevin Sperry, redshirt junior Brock Glenn, or getting another transfer.

Meanwhile, the arch-rival Miami Hurricanes have had success in the transfer market with quarterbacks such as Cam Ward and Carson Beck. Miami is in the College Football Playoff, while the Seminoles have not made an appearance since 2014 (should have in 2023).

The Hurricanes will likely enter the portal again, as Beck is a redshirt senior. Miami's fan base was talking about getting options such as South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers or North Carolina State's CJ Bailey.

According to a report from ESPN's Pete Thamel, Sellers is getting a deal done to return to South Carolina for the 2026 season, which would have Miami searching for options.

We will monitor what happens with Bailey at North Carolina State, but the hope is that Miami continues to strike out on options. They have hit on the last two transfers that they have pursued in the portal. It is time for the Seminoles to have a similar level of success if they do not think that redshirt freshman Kevin Sperry is the answer.
