Florida State football did not make a bowl game in 2025, which was surprising considering that the Seminoles defeated Alabama in Week 1 by a score of 31-17. August 30th seemed like a long time ago because the Crimson Tide just defeated Oklahoma last night in the College Football Playoff.
These two teams, Florida State and Alabama, have gone in opposite directions. It is confusing since the Seminoles look to stick to a "business as usual" approach. However, the fan base is ready for the program to get back to championship-level success.
We haven't heard much about what the Seminoles will do at the quarterback position. Florida State had former UCF and Boston College signal-caller Thomas Castellanos, who they grabbed in the transfer portal.
Castellanos started with a bang, as he mentioned in an interview that the Crimson Tide couldn't stop him, and legendary head football coach Nick Saban couldn't save them. The quarterback seemed to be right, but the rest of the season snowballed out of control, and it is uncertain if the transfer will get another year of eligibility.
The biggest question that Florida State will have to face is if the program will lean on a youngster like Kevin Sperry or dip their hand into the transfer portal waters again?
One name that has emerged in the transfer portal has been Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht, who has 83 total touchdowns in three seasons as a starter (according to ESPN Stats and Information).

This signal-caller has won a high level in a place like Iowa State. However, his former head football coach (Matt Campbell) has been hired at Penn State, and it will be interesting to see if Becht will join him in Happy Valley.
With transfer options such as Old Dominion's Colton Joseph out there in the transfer portal, would the Seminoles try to convince Becht to come to Florida State?
