Florida State went cheap at the quarterback position(once again) in the transfer portal, signing Auburn backup Ashton Daniels a few days ago. The thought was that FSU might have saved some money there that they can apply to other important positions, such as linebacker, defensive end, or on the offensive line.
FSU has added a few decent offensive linemen with some experience and eligibility remaining. That’s a positive, and they landed a former Texas running back who could be a difference-maker in 2026. We could argue they didn’t NEED to sign the running back.
Nevertheless, there was some excitement around the fanbase when the news broke that Pittsburgh starting linebacker Rasheem Biles would visit. Biles was an All-ACC performer last year with over 100 tackles and 17 tackles for a loss. He would upgrade the FSU defense immediately.
However, news broke on Thursday morning that he would not be visiting Florida State after all. He’ll visit the University of Michigan instead.
Coveted Pitt linebacker transfer Rasheem Biles is expected to visit Michigan, sources tell me, @ZBlostein247, @BriceMarich and @chris_hummer. No longer set to visit Florida State.

Is it that the Battle’s End is that broke, or is Michael Alford still playing the cheap game? It sounds like Alford is aware that FSU can play with other money aside from what’s provided from revenue sharing. We don’t hear much from The Battle’s End anymore.
Ingram Smith crawled out from the shadows to say “Go Noles” when star wide receiver Duce Robinson announced his decision to return to FSU in 2026, implying that The Battle’s End had something to do with it.
There's no way Michael Alford is THIS naive is it?

No way FSU Athletics Director Michael Alford is THIS naive, is it? It can’t be since they were trying to get him to practice, which then goes back to not wanting to spend the money to get him.
If either or one of these is true, it won't matter who the head coach is once Mike Norvell is gone.
