Florida State football is ranked as the 14th-best recruiting class in the 2026 cycle, with only seven commitments. However, as the spring practice season approaches, the Seminoles look to heat up on the recruiting trail.

The new coaching staff is looking to create special bonding opportunities with many highly-touted prospects. Florida State wants to emphasize high school recruiting after the doubters thought that the university's football program was just a destination for transfer portal prospects.

The Seminoles only have one prospect that is on the offensive and defensive trenches in three-star offensive tackle Xavier Payne from Jones High School in Orlando, Florida. Florida State understands the importance of building through the trenches. This is not something that they want to turn a blind eye to.

The coaching staff has their eyes set on a couple of defensive linemen in this cycle. Defensive line coach Terrance Knighton has been active on social media, where he promotes a positive energy to the program. Coach Knighton had success last cycle with prospects such as five-star Tylon Lee, four-star LaJesse Harrold, four-star Kevin Wynn, and three-star Darryl and Mandrell Desir.

The success is hopefully going to continue in the 2026 cycle as Florida State wants to acquire the services of Class of 2026 three-star defensive end Kamron Wilson from Miami Southridge High School in Miami, Florida.

Do not let the three-star ranking fool you. This prospect is an imposing presence that frightens opposing quarterbacks. He accumulated 118 tackles (32 tackles for loss), 17 sacks, and four forced fumbles during the 2024 season, according to MaxPreps.

Wilson is already officially visiting the Seminoles on the weekend of June 20th, which is massive for Florida State since they are his trip in the summer after visiting schools such as Syracuse, California, Minnesota, and North Carolina State.

It helps the fact that he is also unofficially visiting on March 21st. With the Seminoles not having a Spring Showcase this year, the program has to be creative to entice prospects during their spring visits.

This would be a big pickup for Florida State, as I believe that he will end up being a four-star prospect.
