GUS MALZAHN'S USAGE OF THE RUNNING GAME

Former UCF head football coach Gus Malzahn was brought to Florida State because he is known as an offensive mastermind in the game of college football. Even at his time with Auburn, Malzahn knew how to run the football effectively.

The Knights did not have the season that they wanted in 2024, but the rushing attack was still ranked in the top ten of college football, where it averaged 248.1 rushing yards per game. This isn't someone who runs an air-raid offense that is trying to run the football.

Coach Malzahn has been known throughout his career to run early and often. He is now reunited with quarterback Thomas Castellanos, whom he recruited and signed with the Knights. The signal-caller transferred to Boston College because he wanted to be a starter early in his career.

The dynamic duo should be a perfect matchup for what the Seminoles want to do this season, with making opposing defenses tired of having to defend the run consistently.
