DUAL-THREAT ABILITY OF QB THOMAS CASTELLANOS

Florida State did not have an effective dual-threat quarterback last year with former Clemson and Oregon State transfer DJ Uiagalelei. This isn't a shot at Uiagelelei. It just didn't pan out the way that the coaching staff thought.

The Seminoles learned from the mistake and got someone who fit the mold of what has been successful at Florida State. Former quarterback Jordan Travis was captivating with his legs (just ask Florida in the 2023 matchup).

Florida State is hoping for a similar result by bringing in former UCF and Boston College signal-caller Thomas Castellanos. He had 1,113 rushing yards with 13 touchdowns in 2023 under the previous head football coach, Jeff Hafley.

Unfortunately, the Eagles brought in Bill O'Brien last year, and he implemented a pro-style scheme that didn't fit Castellanos's play style. He had only 194 rushing yards and one touchdown before being benched late in the season. I know that it is scary to rely on someone who got benched, but I believe it to be an outlier in the quarterback's career.
