Proven Portal Success

One important facet that wasn't available for Mike Norvel when he took over the program in 2019 was the transfer portal.

The transfer portal didn't become available, similar to its current form until after the 2020 season.

I'd wager Mike Norvell probably wouldn't be the coach at FSU right now if not for his decision to use the transfer portal how he did going into the 2021 season.

Mike Norvell was one of the first to take smaller high school classes, taking players from the transfer portal to become more competitive on the field instead of relying on freshmen who were not physically ready to play.

FSU has one of the better track records with players from the transfer portal, and FSU will likely benefit from it going into the 2025 season. FSU will likely get better quality players now than compared to the first transfer portal class.

When we look at how quickly teams can transfer form in today's era, there's no reason FSU can't improve its roster drastically quicker than Mike Norvell did the first time.
