Limit Missed Tackles
We mentioned the NC State running backs like to run with physicality, so it’ll be imperative for FSU defensive lineman to set the edge and for FSU linebackers to fill their gaps.
FSU has struggled to set the edge, and linebackers catch blocks instead of attacking, which leads to a lot of arm tackles that get broken or diving at the feet of ball carriers.
NC State loves to get the ball out quickly to its receivers in space with tunnel screens and short passes. FSU defenders will need to make those plays in one-on-one situations, similar to how Jerry Wilson came downhill on a big third-down play and made a tackle for a loss against Virginia Tech last week.
CJ Bailey is a big quarterback who moves well, and he can be elusive in the pocket. It’s why he’s only been sacked 15 times. FSU can’t afford to run by him when rushing the passer and taking themselves out of the play.
