You can cross Asharri Charles off the list for now.
FSU had been trying to flip the four-star edge prospect from Miami and were expecting him to take an official visit this weekend. But according to several sources, that visit is off the table and instead Charles will be at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday watching Miami-Notre Dame.
VIP: Venice (Fla.) Top247 EDGE Asharri Charles will no longer take an official visit to Florida State this weekend, @247Canes and @Noles247 have learned.

This leaves FSU's recruiting class without a real target right now. There is a chance, a good chance, that the staff will circle back around to an in-state player like Jarius Rodgers, who is currently committed to Syracuse.
It's a downer on what should be a pretty great recruiting weekend otherwise. Nearly every commit will be in the house on Saturday for the Alabama game, along with targets like four-star offensive lineman Johnnie Jones, who is currently committed to UCLA.
The edge cupboard isn't completely bare
There is a lot made of FSU's failure to get a commitment from an edge rusher in an otherwise solid recruiting class. But not all the news is bad because FSU did sign a few players that could fill that role in the upcoming seasons.
Last year's class had four-star prospect La Jesse Harrold. He's a kid with length and some bend and, according to the FSU football page, he has bulked up to 253 pounds. Harrold is probably headed toward a redshirt this season, but he is a player that we'll probably key on a little more in the spring of 2026 to see how far his development has come.
Tylon Lee is another in-state prospect that was projected as an edge, but his listed weight on the FSU football page is 287 pounds, which tells me he's going to be putting his hand in the ground more times than not.
There is a lot of intrigue about the Desir twins and Mandrell Desir has already made the depth chart at one of the defensive end positions. These are two players that have already gotten some hype as freshmen, and we should get to see some glimpses of what they are capable of in the upcoming games, specifically East Texas A&M and Kent State.
So, while missing out on an edge prospect in this class is far from ideal, there are a couple of young players from the 2025 recruiting class that could fill that role.
