CB JAMARI HOWARD

Florida State's defensive back group was solid last season, even though the Seminoles had a difficult 2024 campaign. This speaks volumes for the recruiting ability and development of defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr.

Surtain Sr. has assistant coach Evan Cooper added to the staff to help with safeties, so that he can oversee more of the position group. This could be a smart investment since the Seminoles have so much talent in the room.

One of the best hauls that Surtain Sr. had was the 2024 recruiting cycle. He got commitments from Charles Lester III, Ricky Knight III, Cai Bates, and Jamari Howard. Lester III gets the most love because he was the highest rated prospect in that bunch.

However, some fans forget about Howard. He suffered a season-ending injury last year and had to recover. It is easy for youngsters to get discouraged after an injury because it can be more of a mental hurdle than a physical one. If the Miami native can piece everything together, watch out.
