3 transfers that I wish FSU football brought in, but they went elsewhere

Three transfers that were on my wish list.

DT LEE HUNTER (TEXAS TECH)

Florida State brought in defensive coordinator Tony White in this offseason who runs a 3-3-5 defensive scheme. It is something that the Seminoles are not used to running as they go away from previous defensive coordinator Adam Fuller's ideas.

In the 3-3-5 scheme, this requires to have a defensive tackle to establish the line of scrimmage over the center. The Seminoles got great news that Darrell Jackson Jr. was returning for his senior season in 2025. I think that is a solid idea, but I would have liked to swing the fences at another defensive tackle.

One name I wanted was former UCF defensive tackle Lee Hunter, who signed with Texas Tech (relation$hip$). Hunter was a disruptive piece for the Knights in 2023 and 2024, where he combined to have 100 tackles and four sacks in that time frame.

Hunter was someone that the coaching staff was very familiar with in recruiting out of high school. The defensive tackle made a quick trip to Tallahassee and said that he would potentially be back during that next weekend, but he visited Texas Tech and that was all she wrote.

Overall, Hunter would have been a nice piece for defensive line coach Terrance Knighton to play with during the 2025 season.
