3 transfers that I wish FSU football brought in, but they went elsewhere

Three transfers that were on my wish list.

DE PRINCEWILL UMANMIELEN (OLE MISS)

Florida State had to overhaul its entire defensive line from a season as Patrick Payton, Marvin Jones Jr., and Joshua Farmer moved on from the program. The defensive line took a step back in 2024. If you remember, ESPN's Pete Thamel made a report last offseason that NFL scouts said that the Seminoles' defensive line was one of the best in the country (whew...).

The only returning piece is defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr. I like Jackson Jr's frame, but I worry about him playing too high and not getting low enough in his stance which would cause him to get washed up in run support.

Florida State brought in new defensive coordinator Tony White and defensive line coach Terrance Knighton this offseason. They were able to bring in James Williams, Jayson Jenkins, Deamontae Diggs, and Deante McCray via the transfer portal this offseason.

However, I believe that it would have been nice to land former Nebraska defensive end Princewill Umanmielen, who transferred to Ole Miss. He has familiarity with being coached by White and Knighton with the Cornhuskers. Plus, he is just scratching the surface with his talent, where he recorded 13 tackles and 0.5 sacks. He won Second-Team Freshman All-American in 2023.

I believe that it would have been nice to have more talented depth with upside at the defensive end spot.
