LB IZAYIA WILLIAMS

Florida State fans thought that the linebacker core would be a bright spot for program this season. The Seminoles brought in transfers Elijah Herring, Stefon Thompson, and Caleb LaVallee.

This was a situation where I thought that Herring would be a tackling machine since he had a productive collegiate career with previous schools such as Memphis and Tennessee. However, the man-to-man coverage with wheel routes brings PTSD to this fan base.

These have been situations where the current linebackers have not been able to come to help in run support or cover in space. Linebackers coach John Papuchis needs more from its unit, which the rest of the schedule could bring good news.

One of the more important prospects in the class has been four-star Izayia Williams. The talented defender has flipped from several different schools, and has been a laughing matter about the high school recruiting process.

This is why Williams choosing Florida State was such a surprising development when he did so in August 2025.
