Florida State football will be conducting its first scrimmage of spring practice on Saturday afternoon. The fan base is anxiously waiting to see how the Seminoles respond to their 5-7 campaign last season. The program decided to not have a spring game this year, so they have to depend on interviews from the coaching staff to get insight on how they are doing.

Florida State had a great opener against Alabama, but crumbled under the pressure as the year progressed. As a result, head coach Mike Norvell is firmly in the hot seat, talked about by many analysts for good reason, because the Seminoles have aspirations of competing for championships.

Norvell and Florida State were busy this offseason acquiring talent for the roster, so the fan base will have to familiarize itself with the new team. With the spring scrimmage being today, here are three questions that individuals have about Florida State.

1. What is the status update of the battle between Kevin Sperry and Ashton Daniels?

Florida State went back to the transfer portal for another quarterback. They had the experiments of DJ Uiaglalelei and Thomas Castellanos that didn't pan out. The fan base has been clamoring for head coach Mike Norvell to give redshirt freshman Kevin Sperry or JUCO Malachi Marshall (enrolling in the summer) instead of handing the key automatically over to veteran transfer Ashton Daniels.

2. How will the rotation of the offensive line pan out?

Assistant coach Herb Hand had a solid unit on the offensive line last season, but he has to replace every starter in the position group. Coach Hand went back to the portal to grab more pieces. Homegrown recruits like Andre Otto, Sandman Thompson, and Jonathan Daniels will be monitored by the fan base to see if the staff will actually not just rely on transfers.

3. Will the linebacker position be a strength of the Seminoles?

Linebackers coach John Papuchis moved over to Missouri this offseason, so the Seminoles promoted assistant coach Ernie Sims to coach the linebackers. The Seminoles had grabbed former Southern Miss transfer Chris Jones and former North Carolina transfer Mikai Gbayor, who should bring experience to the room. Coach Sims could find the solution to a weak point in the defense last season.
