OT LUCAS SIMMONS
Florida State's offensive line has been productive for the Seminoles during the 2025 season. The acquisition of former Wake Forest center transfer Luke Petitbon has been a massive hit for the program, as they look to build the trenches.
Assistant coach Herb Hand has had Power Four experience, and it has been one of the best coaching hires that the Seminoles had this offseason. The hope is that Coach Hand can remain employed even if there are major coaching changes.
The offensive line depth is not ideal, and the Seminoles had to go to the transfer portal to accumulate five starters in the position group. It would be better if high school recruits could emerge during the 2026 season. There is positivity surrounding Chavez "Sandman" Thompson could replace Petitbon at center next year.
However, fans have a right to worry about everywhere else. Offensive tackles are tasked with protecting the quarterback's blind side. Two pieces that the Seminoles hope would emerge would be Lucas Simmons and Jonathan Daniels. They need both to take major steps for the remainder of the year and the offseason, since offensive tackles Gunnar Hansen and Micah Pettus will be graduating.
The former high four-star prospect from Sweden needs to find his moment to shine after being in Tallahassee for multiple years.
