QB KEVIN SPERRY
Florida State had one of its biggest pickups of the transfer portal with former UCF and Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos. Fans were excited about the reunion of Castellanos and Malzahn, since they had a previous relationship with each other.
However, the experiment has not gone as well as some would have thought. It looks like ever since the signal-caller injured his ankle in the first half of the Kent State game, he has not been the same player that he was in the season opener versus Alabama.
This is a concerning trend for Castellanos since his ability to use his legs and help the Seminoles establish the running game has not been on display as much lately, with him throwing over 30+ times per game.
One player that I want to see is true freshman quarterback Kevin Sperry. The Texas native has played three games this season in relief duty, and it looks like the coaching staff wants to preserve his redshirt. However, with the uncertainty of head football coach Mike Norvell and even offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn''s job security after this year,
Florida State saw playing youngster Brock Glenn and Luke Kromenhoek not work out, as Glenn hasn't panned out in Tallahassee and Kromenhoek transferred to Mississippi State, but Sperry could be an important piece to the Seminoles' future.
