DT DARRELL JACKSON JR.
Big news came out on Friday afternoon, before the game, that Virginia starting center Brady Wilson would be out for the contest versus the Seminoles. Fans rejoiced as many individuals thought that this would be an opportunity for defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr. to take advantage of.
However, the redshirt senior didn't have any success as he only recorded five tackles. Running back J'Mari Taylor gave the Seminoles all that they could handle with 27 carries and 99 yards, as well as one touchdown.
Virginia gashed the Seminoles' defense. There was even a point in the game where quarterback Chandler Morris hurt his hand after it hit a helmet. The Cavaliers ran the football nine straight times as Morris was nursing the injury, and scored the touchdown to make it 28-21 in the third quarter.
This was an embarrassing showing by the defensive line for the Seminoles, but there are ways to respond to the adversity where they can be the more physical team and dominate the point of attack like they did against Alabama at times. If Florida State wants to stop Miami's rushing attack, it starts with defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr.
