LB MARVIN JONES SR.

Florida State made headlines this offseason when they brought in former Georgia junior defensive end transfer Marvin Jones Jr. (son of former linebacker Marvin "Shade Tree" Jones). Jones Jr. had a ton of expectations to live up to.

While he has played like his pops yet (unrealistic for a player that is so inexperienced), he has made some Florida State fans feel old as they watch Shade Tree and now they get to watch his son play with the Seminoles.

Jones Sr. was highly successful at Florida State, where he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He terrorized offensive players in the open field with his jarring hits that had a lasting impression on those who came in contact with him.

He accumulated 111 tackles (seven tackles for a loss) in 1992 while leading the Seminoles to an 11-1 record. He was so dominant that he finished fourth in the balloting for the 1992 Heisman Trophy. Jones finished his career as a two-time consensus All-American and a first-team All-ACC in 1992.

Simply put, don't undervalue Shade Tree.
