Florida State football has concluded its spring practices, and head coach Mike Norvell is at the forefront of most of the negative attention. The Seminoles went 5-7 last season, losing seven of their last nine games.
It left a bad taste in the fan base's mouth after having the disastrous 2-10 campaign in 2024. Florida State football has to find consistency yet again, and it is hard to believe that Mike Norvell is only three years removed from the noteworthy 13-1 squad from 2023.
Nonetheless, the Seminoles have plenty of negativity that they have to sort out. However, I want to point out a positive aspect of the program, so I thought it would be beneficial to highlight three players from Florida State's roster who lived up to the hype this spring.
RB Ousmane Kromah
Florida State brought in former Texas transfer running back Tre Wisner this offseason, and the fan base was confused because the Seminoles had plenty of options at the position, such as Ousmane Kromah, Sam Singleton Jr., and Amari Thomas. Fans didn't want Kromah's development to be ruined, but the former four-star prospect has shone this offseason with powerful runs that make you feel like he could be the starting back when the Seminoles kick off against New Mexico State.
WR Devin Carter
Florida State had wide receiver Duce Robinson announce his return, plus talented pieces Micahi Danzy and Jayvan Boggs made their way back in 2026. To make it even better, the Seminoles grabbed Devin Carter and Jasen Lopez in the latest cycle. Carter has been impressive this spring, as Duce Robinson has been limited in practice. As a result, the legacy player has emerged as a serious weapon in the offense for Mike Norvell and company.
DT Daniel Lyons
Who said that a redshirt senior cannot make a difference? In today's landscape of college football, the transfer portal entries are at an all-time high. However, former three-star defensive tackle prospect Daniel Lyons has performed well this spring, and defensive coordinator Tony White mentioned that Lyons has stepped up this year and will be a big factor on defense this year.
