PLAY OF QUARTERBACK THOMAS CASTELLANOS

Florida State welcomed in former Clemson and Oregon State quarterback transfer DJ Uiagalelei last offseason. Many of the fan base (including myself) thought that Uiagalelei could be serviceable enough to lead the Seminoles to 8 or 9 wins in 2024.

That was as far from the truth as possible. The experiment did not go as planned with the veteran, and then youngster Luke Kromenheok transferred out of the program and signed with Mississippi State.

As a result, the Seminoles went to the transfer portal once again to get former Boston College signal-caller Thomas Castellanos. He has given Seminole fans heart attacks over the past two years and even gave head football coach Mike Norvell gray hairs.

That does not mean much as Florida State also landed former Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson, who turned out to be a disaster when he arrived in Tallahassee. It is frustrating that Norvell had to go back into the transfer portal once again instead of developing in-house.

However, Florida State's ground game was awful last year, and the Seminoles want to get back to running the football. Castellanos should be able to help in that regard with his dual-threat ability and the occasional deep shot to keep defenses honest. I hope that the transfer is serviceable.
