RB SAM SINGLETON JR.

Redshirt sophomore running back Sam Singleton Jr. was referred to by the coaching staff all offseason as the "Freshman All-American" after he was awarded the Freshman All-American Kickoff Returner for his 95-yard kickoff return versus Duke last year.

Coming into the season, there was an expectation that they only wanted to use him on special teams, but it seems that he has carved out his own role as a running back. The Jacksonville, Florida, native has been turning heads with his underrated speed.

Understandably, we have to take everything with a grain of salt since Sam Singleton Jr. made appearances in mop-up duty against East Texas A&M and now Kent State. There are too many running backs on the roster who are getting carries. Seven of them got attempts versus the Golden Flashes.

This could be a film review for the staff to see that Singleton Jr. needs more opportunities, as he recorded 10 carries for 86 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's matchup against Kent State. He might have changed his role from returner to running back.
