FSU football: Jordan Travis reacts to not making College Football Playoffs
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football quarterback Jordan Travis was the unquestioned leader of the 2023 team.
The injury he suffered a couple of weeks ago changed how talking heads viewed FSU, and those voices grew louder over the past couple of weeks.
No. 1 Georgia losing to Alabama gave the College Football Playoff Committee just what it needed to make an excuse as to why FSU shouldn’t make the College Football Playoffs, although they went undefeated and continued to win despite the injury to Travis.
Jordan Travis issued a deep and heartbroken statement upon hearing the news Sunday afternoon:
Thoughts
On one hand, it gives you a glimpse into the character and unselfishness of Jordan Travis. It’s one of the many qualities that make him a great leader. However, for a young man who wishes that his leg got broken earlier for the opportunity for his team to show how great they were without him? That’s an incredible statement.
It speaks to his belief in his brothers, but more about his journey in the garnet and gold. Jordan Travis is one of the biggest reasons FSU football has won 19 consecutive games. However, FSU has won games in a variety of ways over this stretch.
They’ve won offensive shootouts, and close rivalry games, grind it out wins like the victory over Louisville in the ACC Championship game. They are undefeated and have one of the best resumes in college football this year.
It’s a shame the committee robbed this FSU football team of the opportunity to compete for a National Championship, Jordan Travis’s opportunity to see this program complete its mission after two incredibly difficult seasons in Mike Norvell’s first two years as head coach.
It’s a shame a guy like Jordan Travis blames himself for this situation. It’s all because the College Football Playoff Committee is a joke.
