Ryan Fitzgerald

Can we talk about the journey of Ryan Fitzgerald? Fitzgerald made a 45-yard field goal to give the Noles a 3-0 lead early in the second quarter. He barely missed a 45-yard field goal near the end of the second half.

However, he rebounded to put the game away with a 33-yard field goal with 3:13 remaining.

These field goal attempts were all pressure filled moments in a game where everyone knew points would be hard to come by.

The first field goal gave a sigh of relief to FSU fans. The feeling of finally having the lead with the offense looking so limited gave hope they’d get it together as the game went on.

The second field goal was huge because there was still a ton of time left on the clock. If Fitzgerald had missed that kick, Louisville would have over three minutes left to attempt to engineer a game-tying touchdown drive.

It was a shorter kick, but one that make it a two-possession game if he makes it. I think back to last year when we didn’t know if the extra-point was automatic. It’s great to see him continuing to excel after all he’s overcome.
