LB Blake Nichelson

The linebacker trio of redshirt seniors Kalen DeLoach and Tatum Bethune as well as redshirt junior DJ Lundy have been serviceable thus far this season. It has been a bright side for Florida State’s defensive unit. The Seminoles have even managed to utilize a 4-3 defensive scheme to have more linebackers out in the field for coverage purposes.

Florida State has been able to have redshirt freshman Omar Graham Jr. in the rotation as well. While all four linebackers have had their moments, I am a bit surprised that the coaching staff has not played former Class of 2023 four-star linebacker prospect Blake Nichelson in meaningful snaps this season (doesn’t include garbage time). Mike Norvell even mentioned in a press conference earlier this season that the California native would be a player who would be on the field more often.

It has not occurred, but maybe they can integrate him into a sizable role shortly. His ability to come downfield and make the tackle as well as cover in space makes him a valuable asset.
