Defensive Secondary Suspect

This weakness was apparent last year when Tate Rodemaker and Johnny Wilson carved up the Louisville secondary.

It’s also something I noted a few weeks back when watching the Virginia Cavaliers take on the Cardinals. Louisville’s dealt with injuries in its secondary, but they’ve been suspect against teams with decent quarterback play.

I’m not saying Tate Rodemaker is the big thing, but the guy can spin it and has some talented receivers to throw to if he has time. Louisville has allowed 97 pass plays of 10+ yards (No. 47 nationally).

They’ve allowed 16 passing touchdowns (No. 36 nationally) and 7.2 yards per attempt (No. 65 tied). I think that’s telling, considering the best quarterback they faced was likely Miami’s Tyler Van Dyke.

Louisville’s secondary has generated 12 interceptions (No. 25 nationally). If FSU can get its running back going at all, I think the passing attack could flourish similar to last year against them with Rodemaker as the QB.

He’ll have better-receiving options, and the FSU offensive line seems to be better at pass protection this year compared to last.
