Complete Team/Roles

There are not any egos on this team. Transfer players like Fentrell Cypress, Keon Coleman, Braden Fiske, Gilber Edmond, Keiondre Jones, Jaheim Bell, and I could go on came in and accepted their roles.

Ja’Khi Douglas, Lawrance Toafili, Markeston Douglas, Kyle Morlock, Darius Washington, DJ Lundy, Deuce Spann, and a host of others know their roles on this team. A rapper (Joe Budden) once said, a role player can be a star in the right system.

This team has been one of the only teams ranked inside the top 15 in all three phases of the game (offense, defense, and special teams).

All three phases have come up big in games. The defense carried the team in several games when the offense struggled. The offense blitzing LSU, Syracuse, and Virgina Tech. Special teams contributed in games against Duke, Miami, Florida, Syracuse, and others.

We couldn’t say this about last year’s team. Special teams were not as good, and the FSU defense didn’t have the depth it has this year.

The offense sputtered a few more times last year than this year to. A coach aspires to be great in all three phases, and that’s what this 2023 team accomplished.

They ranked No. 12 offensively, No. 11 defensively, and No. 16 special teams going into the Florida game according to FEI advanced metrics.
