TALLAHASSEE, FL – NOVEMBER 11: Defensive End Jared Verse #5 of the Florida State Seminoles shows the fans that he was inches from making a sack during the game against the Miami Hurricanes at Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium on November 11, 2023 in Tallahassee, Florida. The Florida Gators were also starting a backup quarterback in redshirt freshman Max Brown. The key to the game was being able to make him uncomfortable in the pocket by getting pressure on the dual-threat signal. The Seminoles’ defense did just that with redshirt junior defensive end Jared Verse (and redshirt sophomore defensive end Patrick Payton) creating havoc up front.

The former Albany transfer was regarded as one of the top pass rushers in all of college football. He decided to come back to Tallahassee in 2023 to elevate his NFL Draft stock and finish the job in terms of bringing a national championship to Florida State.

Verse has been neutralized at times this season where he has been double teamed, and even triple teamed at times. However, he got the best of the Gators on Saturday where he finished the game with 6 total tackles (3 tackles for loss) and 2.5 sacks.

Backup quarterback Max Brown might still have nightmares about Verse coming off the edge.
