When thinking about aspects that fans should be thankful for, Florida State Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford should be included in the list. Alford has made the Seminoles a quality destination in college football. With the national discussion of conference realignment nowadays, Alford has been at the forefront of making sure that Florida State is recognized for its level of success in terms of overall viewership.

Not to mention, that Florida State is in the process of getting a football-only facility as well as making much-needed renovations to Doak Campbell Stadium (I realize that some of the “improvements” are debated among the fanbase). The fact of the matter is that Alford is doing everything in his power to ensure that the Seminoles compete at an elite level.

In today’s society, athletic directors often have a short leash for head football coaches. During his first two seasons at Florida State, Mike Norvell had a combined 8-13 record. A portion of the fanbase wanted the former Memphis coach to be fired. However, Michael Alford continued to express a heightened level of confidence that Norvell would turn the program around.
