Florida’s Defense Among Worst

Florida’s defense ranks No. 87 according to FEI advanced metrics. They allow 28 points per game and 6.67 yards per play.

They only have 19 sacks on the season(five came against non-P5 teams). They allow five yards per rush and have allowed at least 152 rushing yards in the last five games. However, their secondary is young and may be the most vulnerable part of the defense.

They have allowed 18 touchdowns (No. 77 nationally), 235 yards (No. 86 nationally), 8.6 yards per attempt (No. 125 nationally), 61.2 percent completion rate (No. 81 nationally) and three interceptions (No. 130 nationally).

Granted, they have faced some good offenses of late, but even South Carolina (No. 59 offense nationally) scored 37 points.

FSU’s offense won’t be the same without Jordan Travis, but I think Florida’s weaknesses on defense should play to Tate Rodemaker’s strengths.

Florida hasn’t been great against the run, and if FSU can have some success there, that’ll open up everything else. The question is can the FSU offensive line get it together enough to do it?
