FSU football will be taking on their arch-rival Miami Hurricanes on Saturday afternoon in Doak Campbell Stadium.

While rivalry games can be somewhat unpredictable, these are two programs with completely different outlooks on their season through nine games. Florida State is riding with a boost of confidence where they possess a 9-0 record, while Miami has suffered yet another loss versus North Carolina State last Saturday by a score of 20-6.

The Hurricanes’ offense has been wildly inconsistent with the recent play of quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, who has completed 96 of his 152 passes for 1,015 yards with five touchdowns and ten interceptions.

Van Dyke has dealt with his fair share of inconsistencies as well as injury concerns. The Hurricanes have not even announced the junior signal caller as the starting quarterback for the matchup on Saturday.

Head football coach Mario Cristobal will have some tough choices to make as they attempt to decide between redshirt junior Tyler Van Dyke, sophomore Jacurri Brown, and true freshman Emory Williams.

Besides Van Dyke, Williams is the only quarterback on the roster that has a pass attempt this season. The Milton (FL) native has completed 36 of his 48 passes for 295 yards and one touchdown with one interception.

For reference, Seminole fans have already seen what dual-threat quarterback Jacurri Brown can do at the position where former defensive back Jammie Robinson threw him down like a rag doll in last season’s matchup where the Seminoles defeated the Miami Hurricanes on the road by a score of 45-3.

With the uncertainty at the quarterback position, it might not be the smartest idea to go up against a Seminole defensive unit that is No. 24 in the FBS in passing yards allowing (192.3).

First-year defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. has done a tremendous job in developing his position group where Florida State has allowed four passing touchdowns by opposing quarterbacks this season.
