Defense

I saw some folks complaining about the defense on the social media timeline during the game. Aside from a couple of plays, the FSU defense dominated the Pittsburgh offense the way they should have. Pitt was 0-11 on third down and turned the ball over three times.

The Pitt quarterback was 15 of 36 for 244 yards, of which 82 yards came one play. Was FSU lucky to get that strip and recover the fumble in the end zone for a touchback?

Absolutely.

However, they only allowed right over 100 rushing yards(without counting sack yardage), and some of those yards came when the game was essentially over at 24-7.

A couple of their runs came when linebackers filled the wrong gap, but it never felt like Pittsburgh could do much offensively. FSU’s defense had three sacks and six passes defended and forced Pitt to punt NINE times.

Pittsburgh’s offense is among the worst in the nation, and the FSU defense made them look that way aside from a few plays.
