FSU football will travel to Pittsburgh for a 3:30 Saturday afternoon kickoff against the Pittsburgh Panthers as 20+ point betting favorites.

It’s a game many analysts and pundits circled as a potential loss or trap game for the Noles in their quest to re-capture the ACC and make the College Football Playoff.

I wasn’t one, noting how much Pitt lost to the NFL and transfer portal and ranking them as the third most overrated team on the 2023 FSU football schedule:

"The defense ranked No. 22 in advanced metrics last season, with a dominant rushing defense and guys that could get after the QB. Even with that, the passing defense wasn’t great, and I expect that unit to take a step back in 2023. I’ve said for the past two years, Jurkovec doesn’t scare me, and I don’t think he’s as good as some like to project. I know this game is on the road, but this game doesn’t scare me."

The defense is still the strength of the team but has seen some regression as expected, and Phil Jurkovec lost his job as the starting quarterback a couple of weeks ago. The offense was average at best last year, but has fallen off of a cliff this season. It’s a road game and the weather will be cooler than in Tallahassee. The temperature will be around 58 degrees around kickoff.

Here are three important things to know about this Pitt team.
