No. 5 best Florida State basketball NBA career: Bob Sura

Florida State’s all-time leading point scorer also found success at the next level. During his four-year career in Tallahassee, Sura racked up 2,130 points. He was also part of two tournament teams in his first two seasons.

Sura was eventually the 17th overall pick by the Cavaliers in the 1995 NBA draft. As a rookie, Sura played 79 games with three starts and averaged 5.3 points a game. Eventually, he developed into a three-point shooter, who in the 1999-2000 season, averaged 13.5 points by attempting 4.5 three-pointers a game and making them at a 37% clip.

He then spent three years in Golden State averaging around 10 points a game for the Warriors before finding his way to Atlanta in 2003. In the second to last season of his career, Sura averaged 14.7 points a game for the Hawks, but he played just 27 games that season and his effectiveness from beyond the arc waned.

Sura was never an all-star but was a viable wing scorer, who developed into a distributor at the end of his career. In his final season, he started 59 games for Houston, his career high for starts, and averaged 5.2 assists along with 10.3 points.
