FSU football defeated Wake Forest on the road Saturday afternoon by a score of 41-16.

The Seminoles made it a priority to neutralize the Demon Deacons, especially considering that head football Dave Clawson and company have defeated Florida State in the previous three meetings.

The football team handled their business as opposing quarterback Mitch Griffis had a difficult time getting anything going offensively as he recorded a whopping 82 passing yards in the game.

The Demon Deacons gave themselves light in the second quarter as wide receiver Ke’Shawn Williams run it in from 2 yards out on a jet sweep to cut the deficit to 10-7 with 12:06 left in the second quarter.

Unfortunately, Florida State wide receiver Keon Coleman took offense to their efforts of keeping the contest competitive as the former Michigan State transfer took a short pass reception for a 29-yard touchdown to give the Seminoles a 17-7 lead with 10:41 left to go in the second quarter.

FSU started to assert its dominance in the quarter on the next offensive drive where running back Trey Benson was able to take a short pass the distance for an 80-yard receiving touchdown to give Florida State the 24-7 lead with 4:16 left to go before halftime.

Coleman was back at it again with a sensational one-handed touchdown reception later in the quarter. The announcers were discussing about Wake Forest defensive back Caelen Carson being referred to as “Seatbelt”.

That discussion about the talented defender began to lessen as the game progressed.

While Carson was able to force a few pass breakups, Coleman seem to get the best of the defensive back on the afternoon, where he recorded seven receptions for 66 yards and two touchdowns.

Florida State needed its leading wide receiver to step up in the contest with Johnny Wilson, Destyn Hill, and Hykeem Williams unavailable due to injury.

Coleman did just that on Saturday afternoon as he made a statement in a prime time noon slot.
