Need

FSU football has some talented players waiting in the wings on the defensive line, but will lose a lot of talent after the 2023 season. Jared Verse, Fabien Lovett, and Braden Fiske will definitely be gone after this season.

There are a few others with the potential to test the NFL Draft, which means FSU must continue to reload with big-time players in the trenches to avoid going back to where they were when Mike Norvell took over in December 2019.

FSU coaches have done an excellent job of developing players from the high school ranks and from the transfer portal. Joshua Farmer, Malcolm Ray, and Jared Verse are prime examples of guys with talent, but needed refining on technique and adding size/strength.

FSU added four-star defensive lineman Keith Sampson in 2023, and had Daniel Lyons and Ayobami Tifase in the 2022 recruiting class(along with two others that entered the transfer portal).

Armondo Blount can play several positions along the defensive front, and getting on campus early to get into the strength and conditioning program will expedite the opportunity to contribute earlier.

FSU has landed difference-makers at several positions from the high school ranks in recent classes, and maybe this will be the start of consistently getting those type of guys again on the defensive front.
