FSU football: 5 major takeaways from win over Duke
By Kelvin Hunt
Dominant Second Half
FSU outscored Duke 21-0 in the second half. It all started with getting a three-and-out on Duke’s first offensive possession in the third quarter.
They forced a turnover on downs in the red zone when Duke decided to go for the touchdown instead of the field goal on their next possession. Duke only had 92 total yards in the second half.
The FSU offense averaged 6.9 yards per play and 4 of 6 on third downs in the second half.
The FSU defense only allowed 39 passing yards and 53 rushing yards in the second half.
The defense wasn’t bad in the first half as they only allowed the one long touchdown run. The other 10 points Duke scored came off the pick-six interception, and a field goal when Mike Norvell went for it and didn’t get it when Duke was already in field goal range.
