FSU football: 5 major takeaways from win over Duke
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football took care of business against the No. 16 Duke Blue Devils 38-20, after a rough start Saturday night.
The Blue Devils jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead behind the FSU offense stalling and turning the ball over on a pick-six. Duke’s starting QB Riley Leonard played and made it into the third quarter before getting rocked and having to leave the game.
It was curtains for the Duke offense after that.
I wrote there were four things I needed to see in the game. They were as follows:
- LIVE FSU crowd
- Offensive patience
- FSU Run Game
- Defense Set Tone Early
The crowd was insane and packed into the stadium well before the opening kickoff. Although the game got off to a rough start, I never felt like the game was in doubt.
It felt like it was more of a lack of execution by the offense more than anything Duke was doing defensively.
Once Mike Norvell and the coaching staff found their rhythmn, there wasn’t much the Duke defense could do. FSU scored touchdowns on its three final possessions. Here are my five major takeaways from the game.
