FSU football has had its fair share of dominant pass rushers in its school history. However, not many players have made their presence in just one season residing in Tallahassee quite like defensive end Jermaine Johnson II has.

During the 2021 season, Johnson II exploded on the scene for the Seminoles where he recorded 70 total tackles (17.5 tackles for loss) and 11.5 sacks. The former Georgia transfer put his blood, sweat, and tears into this program.

The talented defensive end benefitted from having a successful collegiate campaign and was selected with the 26th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft Draft by the New York Jets. Through six games with the Jets, he has 18 total tackles (four tackles for loss) and two sacks.

Johnson II went to social media on Monday morning and announced that he would be in attendance for Florida State’s game versus the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday night. He even stated that he would be bringing a special guest.

The New York Jets have a bye week during Week 7 of the NFL season. They are coming off an impressive showing in Week 6, where they defeated the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 20-14.

Fans have already begun speculating who Johnson II will be bringing as a special guest. Some individuals suggest that the special guest would be former Florida State running back Dalvin Cook (who is currently on the Jets’ roster). Cook was a household name in Tallahassee where he consistently made opposing defenders look silly. He recorded 687 rushing attempts for 4,464 yards and 44 touchdowns during his three-year career with the Seminoles.

If Cook were to make it into Tallahassee, this would be a tremendous recruiting tool for visiting prospects as well as an amazing way to attract other former players to visit during home games.

It is great when former Seminoles are paying attention to what Florida State is doing on the football field.
