FSU football: ACC Power Rankings after week 6(2023)
By Kelvin Hunt
I had FSU football at the top half of my preseason ACC Power Rankings, and so far so good after six weeks.
FSU football dominated the Virginia Tech Hokies 39-17 to remain unbeaten and the only unbeaten team in the state of Florida.
The biggest news out of the weekend was Miami losing to Georgia Tech on a last second touchdown pass because Mario Cristobal is a terrible game day coach. Louisville announced they might be a contender with a second half drubbing of Notre Dame. North Carolina rolled Syracuse, and Boston College and Virginia picked up out of conference wins. NC State survived against Marshall, and Clemson hung on to squeak out a win over Wake Forest in Death Valley.
Duke and Pittsburgh were on a bye week.
Anyways, here are my updated rankings after week six:
- FSU football
- North Carolina (+2)
- Louisville (+3)
- Duke (-2)(Also know they will be without their starting QB)
- Clemson
- Miami (-2)
- Syracuse
- Georgia Tech
- Wake Forest
- NC State
- Boston College
- Virginia Tech
- Pittsburgh
- Virginia
Thoughts
FSU remain top the standings, but I had to move North Carolina past Duke after that performance against Syracuse, plus Duke will not have their starting QB for a bit. Louisville moves up to the No. 3 spot, but I also think Notre Dame is incredibly overrated. Clemson remains where they were after barely beating a bad Wake Forest team. Miami drops two spots, but they beat themselves more than anything else.
I kept everyone else in the same spot because it’s a whole bunch of mid or terrible teams. The upcoming week will continue to separate the pretenders from the contenders. The marquee ACC game will be North Carolina hosting Miami. Will Miami get up off the mat or lay down after the Georgia Tech loss? FSU hosts a reeling Syracuse team, and Louisville travels to play a bad Pittsburgh team.
