Trey Benson

I understand that FSU fans have been critical of redshirt junior running back Trey Benson’s performance thus far this season. It certainly has not been a 2023 campaign that was envisioned for the talented playmaker, who recorded 990 yards and nine touchdowns last season. However, this could be a monstrous bounce-back performance for the former Oregon transfer.

He has only recorded 40 carries for 189 yards and four touchdowns through four games this season. Luckily for Benson, Virginia Tech’s defensive unit has been vulnerable when defending against the run where they rank 108th in the FBS allowing 177.6 rushing yards per game. The Seminoles’ rushing offense has not been productive this season where they rank 79th in the FBS and average 147.8 rushing yards per game. I expect the coaching staff to get back to the drawing board and establish the run early and often in this one.
