FSU football: 3 reasons Noles in perfect position to peak at right time
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football has two of the best wins in the early 2024 college football season. The Noles have ranked as high as No. 3 nationally, receiving first-place votes in multiple weeks.
However, FSU has not played at a high level consistently all season.
We’ve seen it in spurts on offense and defense, where both units look dominant. However, we’ve also seen spurts where both look mediocre, though the defense has been the more consistent, and their worst outing against Boston College was influenced by multiple players having flu-like symptoms.
A large part of their issues stem from starting safety Akeem Dent going down with a hamstring injury in the second game this season. Safety depth was a concern going into the season, so it’s no surprise there has been a drop-off with Dent out.
Those two situations explain most of the issues, aside from fans complaining about Adam Fuller. I don’t think that would stop even if FSU shut out Virginia Tech on Saturday.
Nonetheless, the offensive issues have been my biggest concern, but that unit has been affected by multiple situations.
The good news? FSU has won its two biggest games, despite not playing close to its optimal level.
However, some things may fall into place to allow FSU to find consistency to play closer to that level. Here are three reasons FSU football is in a perfect position to begin peaking at the right time.
