FSU football: Will Jaheim Bell have a memorable performance against Clemson?
FSU football had a monumental pickup via the transfer portal this offseason when they landed the services of South Carolina tight end Jaheim Bell.
The do-it-all playmaker had a solid 2022 campaign with the Gamecocks, where he finished with 25 receptions for 231 yards and two touchdowns. He was also a viable threat on the ground where he accumulated 73 carries for 261 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
The tight end position for the Seminoles in recent years has been solid, with the likes of Cam McDonald, Jordan Wilson, Tre McKitty, and Ryan Izzo in recent years.
However, FSU has had an elite option at the position since Nick O’ Leary in 2014, who finished the season with 48 receptions for 618 yards and six touchdowns. Bell has the potential to be a pivotal piece in the offensive system in 2023.
While the talented weapon only has seven receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns through three games thus far, he did make his presence felt in the 31-29 victory over the Boston College Eagles. Bell finished the contest with five receptions for 76 yards and one touchdown.
Can he follow that notable performance up with another impressive showing? The Lake City (FL) native is no stranger to playing the likes of the Clemson Tigers, considering that they are the South Carolina Gamecocks’ arch-rivals.
During the 2022 matchup between the Gamecocks and the Tigers, Bell had a solid outing where he had two receptions for two yards receiving, and recorded nine rushing attempts for 29 yards and one touchdown.
South Carolina defeated Clemson in Death Valley by a score of 31-30. The Tigers had their nation-leading 40-game home winning streak snapped, and the current Seminole tight end was there to be a part of that feat.
If Florida State wants to have the opportunity to dethrone Clemson from the ACC, they will likely have to attack the middle of the field utilizing a difference maker like Bell to create mismatches for the opposing linebackers and safeties.
